Hardwood Cuttings Fall 2022

Silver Dogwood, Hicks Yew, and hetz juniper, asian pear, apricot

November 23, took cuttings from Beauty bush from Ses and from Rose of Sharon bushes in front driveway - left and right. Sat out in kitchen while we were out. Put in Fridge Thursday Morning. Cut Japanese Maple Thursday Morning also.

November 24 put Beauty bush in box after one night soaking.

Sunday, November 27 put Japanese Maple and Rose of Sharon in bed.- they soaked for about 30 Hours.

Sunday Nov 27 cut Nest spruce, dipped in #2 hormone powder put in 2 rows in bed

For fresh local fruit, try Cherry Avenue Farms in Vineland, just outside of Beamsville. Well organized. A pick your own place. Cherries have just finished, but apricots are in full swing with peaches just around the corner.

We were able to be some seconds to make jam. What a great way to preserve the fresh taste of some great fruit.

Apricot has loads of blooms
Rainy day
Fertilized shrub beds from shed to pool area
Still to do = spruce at end of lawn, fruit trees and front trees, windbreak row.

April 27th
Bee boxes spinach is just starting to come up but spotty, Radish is up. Carrots are up
sowed more spinach in bee box, sowed some lettuce mix in bee box
Moved glass cover from swiss chard to over sweet peas. Swiss chard under was up.

April 28 spread out second load of dead sod from Bisnauth by hammock, ran over to flatten with tractor
Planted one row of ornamental corn by shed corner bed, some behind shed, some by ??
Replanted some onion sets that had been uprooted
Bee boxes spinach is just starting to come up, Radish is coming up. No sign of carrots
