Canada Day '12 Garden 2

Fixed back hose,
Found Killdeer nest on driveway
Sprayed roundup on beds, drive, veggie garden
Trimmed, wisteria potentilla by pool,tamarix by basement, dogwood by youngs birch
Emptied composter
Planted broccoli in bed, re- seeded rapini, from before- looks like cold killed it.
Sewed, spargo spinach in another bee box
Dug mulberry from front bed planted past Chinese elm, dug some redbud put under hawthorn along road
Outside transplanted pansy to 1204 flats,
Moved potentilla from arbour bed to corn boil bed.
Grackles- do I have them on the run?
2 canada geese landed on the roof.
Fertilized trees with wet fertilizer- used about 3-4 bags
Started up rototiller
Inside- transplanted 1204 tomato to 4” pots, also some pepper and eggplant
2008 mini pepper seed didn’t grow.
Transplanted some eggplants, pepper to 1204,
Trransplanted delphinium to 1204,
Seeded more basil

April 20/08- chiondoxa blooming in front and in birch bed.Chinese dogwoodl in bloom, forsythia in bud,
Started big rototiller, couldn’t keep it going
Planted copra, candy, red wing, star onions, leeks, balance of dutch sets, planted out rapini, planted broccoli and collards, planted some Detroit red beets,
Unstrung harp,
moved bee boxes to side of deck, dug out rest of septic tank, moved some gr cover under redbud, moved 2 daffodils to between fence and grasses
Trimmed mulberry a bit, trimmed iberis candytuft back- lot of winterkill,, trimmed grasses
Planted Indian corn at corner of lawn

April 12/08 part 2
Box garden, prepared #1 for onions
#2- planted bloomsdale spinach between Detroit red beets, , rainbow carrots, beets cylindra
Sewed icicle radish between ruby red chard
Planted rapini, green onions, with buttercrunch lettuce (1/2 row) and 1.5 rows prizehead.
Sewed sugar snap peas in harp garden
Planted from Hwy 56 guy, emerald cedars by pole garden, white pine in front of shed, white pine back of shed, planted balsam fir by Chinese elm,
Moved lilacs from under hawthorn by road,
Took green euonymus that was rooted from under snowballs and put under the back deck
arbor bed – trimmed cedars by, trimmed euonymus, cleaned up dogwoods, trimmed wisteria
Trimmed cedars by firepot,
Transplanted coleus into 1204, about4-5 per cell, put under lights downstairs.

April 6/08 Put beeboxes back along deck, added some potting mix,
April 6/08 Started Hardwood cuttings in 5 inch pots, Hicks yew, silver dogwood, Korean lilac, purple ninebark, gold cypress, rose of Sharon, forsythia, Andorra, used #2 rooting hormone
April 9/08 seeded beeboxes:1- green onion, 1 bloomsdale spinach, 1 white radish, 1 lettuce buttercrunch/prizehead
April 10/08 put Rapini in fifth box
April 9,10 Cuttings, mint julep, viburnum carcephalum, spirea from front garden,
Transpl collards, brocc, rapini
Rain put onion and collards etc outside

March 19 trimmed onion
March 26/0Sweet peas just starting, tomatioes starting
Seeded 3pp walking stick kale into 1204
Seeded castor beans into black eye susan 809 that didn’t come up at all.
Transplanted coleus (40 total plants)
Sunny +5 C.
Cleaned up sunflower stalks, castor bean, trimmed grass by entry fence,
Planted sugar maple by entrance, moved serviceberry from front flower bed- 1 to back of shed, 2 to edge of bush, moved wild dogwood to end of shed, moved 1 clump of daylily to bush near new serviceberry.
Trimmed- elderberry, lower branches of silver maple at end of septic,
Turned over one raised bed, turned old bean row, turned ½ row old pepper and eggplant
Trimmed hicks yew that winter burned in bean shelter bed.
Trimmed mulberry – lower tips mainly
Seeded parsley by mahonia in birch bed
Seeded Romaine, salad mix, and simpson lettuce in one bee box, covered with glass/plastic
Trimmed Anthony waterer spirea down to ground in the caragana bed
