April 29/30/2006
April 29 s
Sowed Malva in peat pot 1 row of 5 2pp
Sowed Morning glory peat pot 1 row of 5 3 pp
Transplanted tomatoes from 200 seedling tray, into one 809, transplanted into empty 200’s
Transplanted eggplant dusky from 200 tray into 1 peat pot tray of 10, transplanted into empty 200’s
Transplanted sweet peas into paper mache pot from 200 tray, set out in morning to harden off
Sowed 809 of striped sunflower from bulk barn parrot mix 2pp.
Daffodils blooming, dwarf tulips in well bed budding. Redbuds are budding.
Birch male flower are in full pollen
April 30/06 wheelbarrowed topsoil to hammock area, spread thin layer, seeded, and put sprinkler on
Built 2 veggie beds 4by 8 by 10” high, pressure treated, filled near bed with paper, some soil from BBQ patio, some dead sod, and couple wheelbarrows of triple mix.
Built BBQ patio with 2 by 6’s to make it level, ends up with about a 3” drop, moved some stone dust into bed
Rototilled a couple of turned over rows. The dry chunks don’t break up easily, I wonder if we should turn over and rototill the same day as the chunks will be somewhat moist. I think earlier it was too wet, but now it may be okay.
Planted Onion-copra, onion- candy, onion red and leeks. Filled one veggie bed. Planted rest in onion row. Extra leeks into root bed and some by the cole crops
Watered veggie garden
Planted Crimson Sentry Maple in climbing bean bed.
Mulched some more.
