Soybeans- the seeds from last year that seemed to be larger at harvest

Although by this year- they were all the same size and much like the bulk barn soybeans

On arches planted 3 types of climbing beans

Far end- Goats eye beans

middle Scarlet runner

Close side- Kentucky Wonder

Also 3-4 beans that seem to be a cross between Goats's eye and Kentucky wonder

October 6/14 last soybean harvest

Could be fuller but odd one getting to yellow green stage
But mostly green

Sept 29/14 tasks

Cleaned up tomatoes -pulled vines and put in compost
Picked second patch - rest of it - of soybeans.
The third patching soybeans- pods are there but not filled. Hopefully will still have time to grow.
Picked green beans - tossed plants into compost- got two 8 litre pails - even though some are large- this variety is still tender.
Second planting- of beans- almost no beans- got the first flush couple of weeks ago- if season was longer would get another picking-
The two pails come of the second flush of flowers and beans of the first planting,
Rosemary juiced a bunch of tomatoes into ziplock bags for freezing

Coneflower echinacea - picked a half dozen seed heads and scattered the seeds here and there- at Shasta daisy row in front- under maple on east side of drive- new beds at back - by rose bed/black eye Susan
Scattered cleome seed
Scattered viburnum, hicks yew, Amur maple seeds at log berm and under a couple of willows, few redbuds
Planted two clumps of
Miscanthus to front near hawthorns and a walnut.
Watered garden and transplanted oak and redbuds

Tidied up pool shed
Put chairs in shed
Moved umbrellas to big shed in 45 gal drum

Bean harvest

Igloo green beans in 2 round containers

4 by 4 bed of Igloo DAM14 and Garden Corner Stingless planted June 25/14

8 by 4 bed of Dam14 Igloo planted approx May 25th- got a good second crop after a bit of a hiatus

Igloo is a good variety

From Harp- picked a 6 quart basket of Kentucky Wonder climbing beans- beans had gotten large.

Seeded May 25th. Used  the old volleball net for half of the harp and used string for the rest.

July 6, 2013 Timming and Seeding- garden update

Trimmed mugho pine in pool and by kitchen
Also dwarf viburnum under kitchen
Trimmed Pink Spirea by pool shed down to ground
Trimmed Yew in pool area
Trimmed suckers off Caragana stump

Seeded one four foot bed with 4 rows of Soybeans- bulk barn14
Turned over 6-7 ft in big bed, rototilled, seed 2 rows of Sugar Snap Peas

Sabbath
Dug a few beets yesterday
Cut 1st seeding of Kale hard- so Parsnips can grow

Second cut of New Zealand spinach
Sugar snap peas -pretty well done, still a few flowers, but not producing much

Strawberries - only a few small ones- pretty well done

Lettuce is getting bitter
Pulled spring spinach from Kids tall bed

Zuchini squash -yellow-is about 4 inches long-
FLowers on cucumber
Tomato fruit on Glamour from garden centre
Squash front and back is doing well

4 x 4 bed planted three rows one roll of beer friend by William damn 14 and three rows bulk barn soybean seeds about 10 to 12 seats per half roll

Middle row 16 seeds =3" apart
RHS row half at 3" apart
Above all bulk barn soybeans

Last half of RHS row 8 seeds of Dam14 soybeans at 3" apart

First crop pods have formed
Pods should fill to edamame by weekend

Second batch of soybeans from Dam sowed June 30/13 harvested all on Sept 15/13
Listed as 70 days, so took 2 and a half months.
3rd batch sowed on July 11- are they 70 day beans??

In other news
asparagus bed pulled out two or three asparagus with seeds. Like to put cheesesteaks on the corners of asparagus bed to hold up the large burn head and keep them from falling down

Place newspaper under the last bit of peppers and also under the recent green bean crop and under second crop of soybeans

Looks like one eggplant is reached size that's from the big eggplant that I purchased the one big plant i purchase. one fruit is ready to go
