Bought Jack O’lantern pumpkin from Country depot 33 cents garden corner. Planted 1-1204 2 per cell.
Bought 1204 of Eggplant- Classic
Bought a hoe from RONA

June 6/06 hoed front garden,
Saw ruby throated hummingbird at breakfast, put out feeder, saw him at dusk also
Planted purple annual grass by hydro pole, in square planter, by purple basil
Installed interlock at bbq and on path to lawn.
Installed brick paving stones around posts of pergola and started at hammock cover.
Put seeded ornamental corn (june 4) outside. Starting to sprout.
Indian strawberry popcorn hasn’t come up at all. Seeded may 22.

Rosemary cut most of the lawn
Spread some slug & snail bait under mulberry, caragana bed, along back of house.
Planted Morning glory, under redbd by fence at near grass.
basil within grape hyacinth, basil one of each in bee box
some hibiscus in elderberry bed, next to forsythia by the shed,
Planted cucumber, row 1, zucchini row 8, squash in row 7 and row 9 and row out back
Rototilled aisle in vege garden.
Started laying interlock at barbeque and redoing rest
Replanted flowers in spinach bed
Sowed Lima beans in mulch at hydro pole bed
Split Miscanthus “Nippon” from front bed into 1) near potentilla/Weeping nootka 2) by redleaf rose in hydro pole bed
Planted coleus that were rooting (from May 21/06) into front bed under living room window
Seeded 4 1204 with Ornamental corn and 1 809 with corn

Planted walking stick kale and castor bean by fence gap
Planted annual sweet pea plants that were started inside under locust
Planted coleus under mulberry
Mulched by ramp, west side of arbour, under mulberry
Planted 4 box of pepper in garden
Put Brown 16by16 patios by wall (6)
Dug blue grass from fence gap, transplanted to front by roadway
Harvested spinach, mixed salad, some leaf lettuce
White radishes starting to go to seed?
Lots of wasps under verandah roof just starting
Moved 3 aloes outside under verandah
Took baby star romaine lettuce to mom’s garden and planted
Seeded 2- 1204 with cantaloupe

Today warm and sunny, Wisteria at arbour is in bloom, pink flowers
Columbines in bloom, Blue iris in bloom, candytuft is finishing, beauty bush is starting to bud, Korean lilacs ready to bloom soon
Put 15-30-15 on vege garden, bee box, and annual planters (starting to see seedlings)
Planted castor beans in hydro pole bed, also some striped sunflower
Planted castor bean by climbing bean bed
Planted Striped sunflower and perennial sweet pea along fence by ivory silk lilac
Planted striped sunflower along shed between forsythia and mock orange

John came to weed spray lawn, just started to spit an hour after.
Behind house, rototilled from A/C to corner, and under verandah corner

Used sod from 24by30 to raise bed edge
Added some corn
Seeded sunflower under verandah where doesn’t rain, seeded Parsley at edge

May 23, low of 42, covered plants again. No frost, but the one last night nipped some peppers and eggplants
Covered couple of tomatoes with beebox hot house

Friday may 19, put papers and clipping in last garden box
May 22/06 pick a bit of leaf lettuce for salad

Dug out chives from back of house near chimney landing put some in squash holes, rest by front near juniper on roadside, planted Indian corn here
Filled squash holes with triple mix
Raked lawn as chris cut on wed for the first time

Cut lawn for first time, about 3 hrs, rosemary rode, I used push mower
Filled spinach bed with soil, seeded new Zealand spinach 1 pakg, 4-6 inches apart 3 rows
Mulched elderberry bed, caragana bed, redbud bed, ivory silk lilac beds
Spread sod by shed, ran over with tractor, seeded and watered.
May 11 put coleus, tomatoes, peppers etc by front door, so they wouldn’t dry out as much while we were away.
May 13/06 Justin graduation. Rainy from Thursday til all of next week

Transplanted tomatoes from 200 seedling tray, into one 809, transplanted into empty 200’s
Transplanted eggplant dusky from 200 tray into 1 peat pot tray of 10, transplanted into empty 200’s
Transplanted sweet peas into paper mache pot from 200 tray, set out in morning to harden off
Sowed 809 of striped sunflower from bulk barn parrot mix 2pp.
Daffodils blooming, dwarf tulips in well bed budding. Redbuds are budding.
Birch male flower are in full pollen
April 30/06 wheelbarrowed topsoil to hammock area, spread thin layer, seeded, and put sprinkler on
Built 2 veggie beds 4by 8 by 10” high, pressure treated, filled near bed with paper, some soil from BBQ patio, some dead sod, and couple wheelbarrows of triple mix.
Built BBQ patio with 2 by 6’s to make it level, ends up with about a 3” drop, moved some stone dust into bed
Rototilled a couple of turned over rows. The dry chunks don’t break up easily, I wonder if we should turn over and rototill the same day as the chunks will be somewhat moist. I think earlier it was too wet, but now it may be okay.
Planted Onion-copra, onion- candy, onion red and leeks. Filled one veggie bed. Planted rest in onion row. Extra leeks into root bed and some by the cole crops

Planted Crimson Sentry Maple in climbing bean bed.
Mulched some more.

Moved glass cover from swiss chard to over sweet peas. Swiss chard under was up.

April 28 spread out second load of dead sod from Bisnauth by hammock, ran over to flatten with tractor
Planted one row of ornamental corn by shed corner bed, some behind shed, some by ??
Replanted some onion sets that had been uprooted
Bee boxes spinach is just starting to come up, Radish is coming up. No sign of carrots

April 15/06 warm 17 C. Wore shorts
John says to get chipper started use carbeurator cleaner. Spray into the carberaotr, (take off air filter to access) Alcohol is cold and help burn off carbon
Rosemary trimmed forsythia to take to work
Cut up last of the winter evergreen bouquet and put clippings under telephone pole bed.
Ran rototiller through dead sod and some of the sod from the pipe trench.
Rototilled one row (row 6) of garden, planted Spanish onion sets, planted dutch sets(100 bulb package)
Planted in same row, 1204 of lettuce, 2 kinds, and 809 of sprouts, kale, red cabbage.
Turned over row 2 of garden and balance of row 4. Dug out garlics from garden (all except row 1) planted in locust planter under the area that is under the shader and doesn’t get water.
Seeded ANchusa blue angel in Locust bed along with annual sweet pea (knee high). Left room at end for tomato or other vegetable.
At end of locust planter planted golden swiss chard. Placed glass bee frame and plastic over part of the chard.
In bean bed, planted Linaria Fairy Bouquet in front of yews and in front of the patio stones. Package contains ¼ gram =3,000-4,000 seeds
Looks like some of the new Zealand spinach is growing
From Telephone pole bed, removed birch tree, mulched bed, using some newspaper,
Planted birch by lodense hedge bed.
Seeded sunflowers, some in goutweed, some between mahonia and yucca, by ramp near hicks yew, under some of the trees in front of shed and behind, along the back and side of the shed, some in last year’s corn bed.

April 12 ordered from mtn garden center, mulch, soil, soilless mix, 10 flagstone 16by 16, 32 sq ft of interlock, one crimson sentry maple for bean bed.
April 13/06Got 2 pickup trucks full of dead sod from cherrywood ave landscape job. Unloaded by east horseshoe pit and by hammock pergola.
Received 6 yard load of cedar mulch.
Put onions, cabbage, lettuce, parsley, cilantro, and hardy hibiscus on deck to harden off
April 14/06 spread some of the dead sod by the horseshoe pit.
Sprayed roundup on 2 new raised bed by back vege garden, sprayed roundup around squash holes.
