Sweet potato harvest October 28/19

1- 4 x4 raised bed on left
2- 4x8 low bed on right

Raised bed potato grew deeper since soil was looser to greater depth- harder to dig out- had to dig deeper
Had fewer plants to start with
Had a row of leeks growing but they were crowded out and there were none left

Low bed the potatoes didn't go into the clay so were all within a shovel depth
Had moe plants in this bed
Harvest was 3 times as much as high bed but area was 2 times

Pink- red variety seems more vigorous in our conditions here

Kept pot of each variety for next year

Sour Cherries bred for hardiness by Univ of Sask
Mid season variety. Dark red 7 gram fruit are the largest in the series, and the sweetest of all three. Fresh eating type. More compact plant than the others. Beautiful, bright red cherries, ideal for home made cherry pie. These exciting new bush cherries, developed by the University of Saskatchewan after 50 years of breeding work, are perfect for the home gardener. They are very hardy (zone 3), disease resistant and their bush shape is very suitable for the garden. They are heavy yeilding, producing up to 10-15 kg per plant. With proper care they should begin to bear fruit in 3 years, with full maturity (7-8 feet) in 5-6 years. These are tart cherries, ideal for cooking, but are also sweet enough for fresh eating. Self-pollinating, but better results are obtained when two varieties are planted. We ship 2.5" pot.
