July 26/09 Update

Zuchini growing large plants. Ends of the fruits of some are rotting. So much rain.
Pumpkin- shape looks more like regular pumpkin. Huge fruit, though
Tomatoes are growing well, but the fruits are all green. Adelia said she had a couple reddish tomatoes.

July 26/09 Transplanting Basil




Vinegar treatment July 27/10

Sprayed drive with some vinegar (scotts)
Also tried on some clover by arbour and dandelions by shed lawn.

July 26/09

Dug Garlic along fence. Added wheelbarrow of compost manure then planted 4 cabbage plus some leeks starting in flower. Transplanted basil as well

Dug Garlic at harp. Added wheelbarrow of compost manure. Planted 5 cabbage at harp bed plus beets along front edge one row Detroit, one row long beets

Checked potatoes- new potatoes forming dug a few out and barbequed them.

Harvested 2 cucumber,
Picked beans,
Broccoli at back forming second heads
Cabbage- pointy heads- ready to bolt? June 27 cut one cabbage, just starting to split.

Garlic Harvest Day July 26/09




Far Back Veggie Bed

The cabbage and broccoli are doing well. The cabbage are starting to have pointy heads. I think it is because they are about to bolt.

The broccoli have developed nice side heads. Quite big. I think it is because the first heads were cut quite low. Otherwise they tend to have smaller little heads.

Garlic Harvest July 26/09

Although this year we harvested only 4 days later than last year, the bulbs had more than usual that had started to lose their skins. Also a very wet week last week.
