August 4/13 Preparing and planting for small clove garlic planting

16 ft bed prepared was fallow this season - is 48" wide
Added wheelbarrow ful of compost from hof tub composted and half barrow is fand turned over and levelled

Have 150 small cloves from garlic growing along bush near mcburneys
Plus 30 small cloves that didn't split plus 20 cloves that were also singles

Actual planting
Started at East side near pool going west to bush
8 rows of 6 singles bulbs
3 rows of 6 small cloves
17 rows of 7 small cloves
185 total
Next day put  2/3 tablespoons stop weeds chlorthal -rate is 2 tbsp per 10 m2
Except for small control plot

Aim is to see if an early August planting will yield garlic that will at least hit medium size

Based on last years end of August planting that gave fairly medium sized cloves by mid July harvest

One question - where will we get small cloves for planting next year? Should we be sowing some scapes?
How big will they get to in one year?
Found a mature head of a scape scattered near house heat pump to see how big they will get. Likely over a hundred seed cloves
